For all tax pros who are just starting out, we always recommend that you remember to set up your Google Business Page (it's free) as well as a Facebook business page (also free).
When your Facebook page reaches 25 likes, you can also reserve the "vanity" URL on Facebook (so it's the actual name of your business, rather than a long number than nobody can remember).
For example, let's say your business is called: "SMITHY TAX and BOOKKEEPING SERVICES"
When you first set up a Page for yourself or business, Facebook gives you a url that looks something like this:
http:// www.facebook.com /pages/SMITHY_TAX/857469375913778880021
Not very easy to remember, and not really feasible to print on a business card either. However, once your Page reaches 25 “likes” you are able to claim your own unique Facebook URL. I reccommend that you ask friends and family to like your new business page (initially) so you can reserve your vanity URL as soon as possible.
One you receive the required 25 "likes", now you can now request your official Facebook Vanity URL, something like this: www.facebook.com/SMITHYTAX
Much, much easier to remember!
Every tax pro should do both of these things, they are free and important to preserving your brand identity.
